How to Find Out What Is Happening Before It Happens

East Hampton launched a redesigned website in January 2026 at easthamptonct.gov. It is a useful tool for residents who want to stay informed.

Below you’ll find information on what is available and how to find it (click here to read part one in this series, “Know Your Rights”).

AGENDAS AND MINUTES

Go to: easthamptonct.gov and click “Agendas and Minutes” in the top menu, or go directly to easthamptonct.gov/agendacenter.

This page lists every board and commission in town. Click one to see its upcoming meeting agendas and past meeting minutes.

Connecticut law requires that agendas for regular meetings be posted at least 24 hours before the meeting. If you do not see an agenda posted, the meeting may not be happening or has not yet been noticed.

Minutes are the official written record of what was decided at each meeting. They are supposed to include every motion, every vote, and every recusal. If something happened at a meeting, it should be in the minutes.

IMPORTANT: Agendas and minutes from before 2025 are stored separately in the town’s Document Center. On the Agenda Center page, look for the line that reads: “Agendas and Minutes prior to 2025,” which can be found in the Document Center. Click that link to search older records.

EMAIL ALERTS

Are you too busy to go digging for things in a town website, but want to stay informed?  Me too!

Go to: easthamptonct.gov and click “Notify Me” in the top navigation bar.

You can sign up to receive automatic emails whenever a new agenda, meeting notice, or news item is posted for any commission, council or agency in town.

This is a free notification and it takes about two minutes to set up. You can choose exactly which boards or commissions you want to follow to cut down on the volume of emails and focus on what you care the most about.

WATCHING AND COMMENTING REMOTELY

East Hampton broadcasts Town Council meetings and many other board meetings on its YouTube channel. Go to easthamptonct.gov and scroll to find the YouTube Channel link, or search East Hampton Connecticut Town Council on YouTube. Or, click here.

You can submit a video or audio public comment to the Town Council or other boards without attending in person. Go to: vocalvideo.com/c/town-of-east-hampton

Most boards also offer a Zoom option for remote attendance. The Zoom link, when available, is included in the meeting agenda posted at easthamptonct.gov/agendacenter.
